Old people make 2 machines per week
young people make 7 machines per week (machine per day)
number of weeks represents the X axis
number of machines represents the Y axis
Since old people worked for a longer time they allready have 70 machines
Young people have 35 machines
Actual equation
y=2x+70 y=7x+35
Y=2x+70=5x+35
Y=7x+35 is the actual solution

Luka, the solution is where y=7x+35 and Y=2x+70 are the same. So we write them as equal to each other.

-35______-35
7x = 2x+35
-2x_-2x
5x = 35
divide each side by 5
x = 7
So after 7 weeks they will have made the same number of machines.
If we plug in 7 (it represents x) into the original equations you found, then you will find the number of machines produced after 7 weeks. The answer is 84 for each equation. If it wasn't the same for each equation, then you know you've made a mistake.
